Halal Tourism Curriculum Prepared to Boost
Tourism Growth TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry
of Tourism has set a goal to help boost the country’s halal tourism by 20-30
percent in 2019. “Especially in the hotel and restaurant
sector,” said Riwud Mujirahayu, Tourism Ministry’s Deputy of industry and
institutional development (BPIK) in South Sulawesi. Riwud explained that the ministry has
partnered with numerous associations and universities in preparing the halal
tourism curriculum to later be implemented at Indonesia’s Tourism State

Economy Ecosystem The Tourism Ministry also said that a
specially tailored curriculum is essential considering that halal tourism will
be part of the future tourism business. Riwud said that the facilities already
exist and just needs to be backed by its human resources tasked to provide
halal services. According to the Head of the Lombok Tourism
Polytechnic (Poltekpar) Hamsu Hanafi, halal tourism houses a major potential
for the fact that there are roughly one billion Muslims who travel annually,
especially from the Middle East. |
